What year did you start at Evolution?
2019
Joined working in general admin in September 2019. A year later I started a Degree Apprenticeship in Chartered Quantity Surveying which means I spend four days at work each week and one day at Salford University. I am due to qualify in May 2025.
What do you love about working at Evolution?
I like the working environment. Everyone gets along really well. We work well as a team. It’s a calm environment to work in – a really nice place to work.
What are you most proud of?
How the business has grown. Thinking of the size of the business when I started and the size of the contracts we deliver now, it’s incredible how much it has come on. When I started we would be working on a lot of small contracts. Now, as well as continuing to do a range of smaller contracts, we also deliver bigger contracts too. It’s exciting to be part of that general growth of the business. Even the office premises are being expanded.
I am also proud of my own personal development, from the person who first walked through the door to the person I am now, and that’s thanks to Evolution.
How does the business have a positive impact on the community?
We are improving people’s quality of living with the work we do on their homes.
We also do a lot in our own time to help make a positive difference in our communities. It’s reality important to us as a business and to us as individuals. We join My Blackpool Home to take part in street clean-ups with them; On a project in Lancaster we donated gifts to residents at Christmas time.
We also take part in the Dragon Boat race with My Blackpool Home at Fairhaven Lake to raise money for the Blue Skies Hospitals Fund.
What do you like to do when you are not working?
We socialise together outside work – we might go to Nando’s after work on a Friday, or organise a social activity together.
I also like trying different places for food and going out for drinks with friends. I started playing golf recently, and am enjoying playing nine holes at Poulton Golf Club after work. Living near Cleveleys I am also a Blackpool FC fan so I enjoy the office banter when we play Fleetwood.
